Michigan conservative candidates for Congress 2014

Congressional District and Congress Candidate:

District 01: Dan Benishek, M.D.
District 05: Tom Wassa District 06: Jack Hoogendyk
District 07: Tim Walberg
District 09: Andrew "Rocky" Raczkowski
District 11: Kerry Bentivolio
District 12: Cynthia Kallgren (R)

An interesting primary battle is brewing in Michigan’s 11th district. Nancy Cassis, who has the support of the Michigan GOP establishment, has pledged $200,000 of her own dollars to defeat conservative Kerry Bentivolio.

Michigan Candidates for State Legislature Deb Debacker - District 41. (Troy, Clawson) I have heard good things about Deb Debacker, a longtime member of the state committee. She is one of three Republicans seeking this seat, replacing the term-limited Marty Knollenberg.

Tom Leonard - District 93. (Clinton, Gratiot) Staunch conservative Tom Leonard is one of four Republicans vying to replace term-limited rep. Paul Opsommer.

Jason Gillman - District 104. (Grand Traverse) Tea Party leader and Grand Traverse county commissioner Jason Gillman is running in the primary against Republican rep. Wayne Schmidt. Jason needs no introduction on, of course.
Things are looking up for conservative Republicans in Michigan in 2014. But to avoid a repeat of the policy disasters that caused voters to reject Republicans in 2006 and 2008, Republicans need to make sure that we nominate the right conservative candidates in Michigan. We don't need ideologues who are enamored with Utopian ideas like fixing the world by invading other countries or destroying lending standards to win the Hispanic vote. We don't need hacks who call themselves conservative but vote for every big government boondoggle from the No Child Left Behind bill, to the prescription drug entitlement, to the TARP bailout.
